My Story
Intro
Media is one of the most powerful tools to form opinions, inform citizens and educate the masses. But media is changing fast and new ways of participatory media are emerging. Ankit realized the need for a more participatory approach in Indian media and just had to give it a shot!
About Me
My father is a journalist and with him I traveled to different parts of the country. I completed my schooling through 6 different cities; making me open for change from starting. After that I graduated in engineering that made me think about world in terms of problem and their solutions. My father being a journalist also had an everlasting impact on me.
Me starting Instablogs came from my desire to explore myself in journalism and at the same time in Technology. I witnessed the problem of no open platform where community driving the news and than I realized the need of people for a platform where they can decide the importance of news for themselves. In the tradiational media editors ran newspapers without caring much about the audience; this tyranny of editor where only one side of the point was presented was big injustice to the other side. I wanted to answer it and for it I developed Instablogs.
My Venture
Instablogs was conceived from the idea of news for a global citizen's newspaper. Building a platform where through collaborative news approach the world's critical issues would be highlighted from the people who are actually affected from them. Instablogs, today is the only platform available which not only gives a comprehensive understanding of the event but also brought out the impact it had on the lives in all parts of the world. Instablogs also opened different niche blogs with in-house writers who helped in developing the magazine like functioning and coverage of news. “Quality within deadline” was our motto from starting, and helped us in scaling ourselves to 7.5 million pageviews per month.
Also it was felt that among innumerable Content Management system software’s none was able to meet our requirement. We developed our own software; today which is being professionally used by other companies.
